Meeting Minutes – March 2014

Meeting opened at 7:12 pm, Minutes read by Diane Mastrole, accepted by Stacey Cooper and seconded by Jean Fracapane.

Treasurers Report read by Deb Perez:
Checking Account: $15,516.15
Tennis Court Fund: $40,027.99

Deb Timpone thanked Dr Russo and Mrs Peterson for the Common Core Presentations over the last few months at the PTO meetings. The presentations went well and we would like to do it again.

Deb Timpone turned the meeting over to Mrs. Peterson. Mrs. Peterson had a suggestion basket for ideas, she did a presentation of working with the shifts and turned the meeting over to Dr. Russo.

Dr. Russo discussed the Blue Ribbon Schools document. He thanked the teachers and administrators that worked on the document – there were 12 in all.
Dr. Russo read a part of the document to the everyone present at the meeting.
He let everyone know that our school is being visited by other schools to see how we implement the common core. We are up to 7 visits by neighboring schools.

Fundraiser Updates:

Spirit Wear – chaired by Jean Fracapane- 50% off Clearance Inventory Sale –
Jean, stated goal is to sell old inventory. Clearance sale went well brought in almost $900. She will be selling new items. Some of those new items will be baseball hats, blankets, stadium seats and PJ bottoms.

Boot Camp – chaired by Kim Brehm – raised $350 from the last camp
Kim stated that the bootcamp is cranking, next round of bootcamp will be after spring break. She is speaking with Speonk Lumber in regards to a donation of wood for the school garden.

St Patricks Day MS Bake Sale – chaired by Joann Lapinski -raised $352 –
Joann stated they did even better then last year even though there were only three grades present. She thanked everyone for their donations.

Box Tops/Terracycle – chaired by Faith Lidonicci – Faith confirmed that we are #2 of 222 schools regionally. Mrs Walz 7th grade class won a breakfast for Box Tops.

Chinese Auction -will be held April 6th – come and support the school, there will be great prizes – money raised will go to the Tennis Court Fund.

In Other News:

Deb Timpone announced that the rescheduled the date for the 3rd and 4th grade Sweetheart Dance to be held Friday. Dance will be held in the Cafeteria. One adult per student/no siblings – volunteers needed.

Maureens Haven – Deb Perez and Deb Timpone – went and set up 27 beds, dinner was served, after breakfast the next morning the lunch bags that the students decorated were handed out. November will be the start of Maureens Haven again -new volunteers will be needed.
